Bu metin hakkında

Aristoteles'in etik üzerine en önemli eseri. Mutluluğun (eudaimonia) en yüksek iyi olduğunu ve erdemli bir hayat ile pratik bilgeliğin işlenmesiyle ulaşılabildiğini savunur.

Every art, and every science reduced to a teachable form, and in like manner every action and moral choice, aims, it is thought, at some good: for which reason a common and by no means a bad description of the Chief Good is, "that which all things aim at."

And of this nature Happiness is mostly thought to be, for this we choose always for its own sake, and never with a view to anything further: whereas honour, pleasure, intellect, in fact every excellence we choose for their own sakes, it is true, but we choose them also with a view to happiness, conceiving that through their instrumentality we shall be happy.

For as it is not one swallow or one fine day that makes a spring, so it is not one day or a short time that makes a man blessed and happy.
